Tim is a doctor by profession but best known for his Olympic successes as a sprint kayaker. At the Beijing Olympics in 2008 he won Great Britain’s first ever gold medal for kayaking in the 1,000m sprint event. He also won bronze medals in the 500m event in Beijing and at the Sydney Olympics in the K1 1000m event.
Following Beijing, Tim returned to practise in A&E at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. He began training again in February 2010 in an attempt to repeat his Beijing success at the London 2012 Olympics. After just six months of full-time training, Tim won a silver medal in the 2010 World Championships. This exceeded his own expectations and showed that he will be the one to beat in London in 2012.
We are delighted to confirm that Tim will deliver a keynote address at the conference. He will speak in the plenary session taking place on Wednesday 16 November from 15:05 – 15:45.
